This article describes the resident experience when participating in a Collaborative Map Activity, including how to place pins, view other residents' submissions, and endorse them with a like.

Discovering the Activity

Residents can discover a Collaborative Map Activity through:

  • Teaser cards on home screens, project pages, hub pages, and update pages
  • Email invitations
  • Website widgets
  • Direct weblinks or QR codes shared by the city

Viewing the Map

  3. They can click on any other resident's pin to view that resident's responses.

No login is required to view the map and existing responses.

Placing a Pin

  1. When a resident attempts to place a pin, they are redirected to a login or signup screen.
  2. After authenticating, the resident is returned to the map.
  3. They select a pin category and click on the map to drop their pin.
  4. A modal opens with the follow-up questions configured by the admin.
  5. The resident answers the questions and clicks 'Submit'.
  6. If Multiple Pins is enabled, the resident can drop additional pins up to the configured limit.

Liking Another Resident's Pin

Residents can endorse pins placed by other community members. To like a pin, the resident opens the pin's side panel and clicks the thumb icon. The like count updates in real time.

  • Each resident can like a pin only once.
  • Residents cannot like their own pins.
  • Like counts are visible in both the resident view and the admin Results view.
