Validating your sending domain ensures that all email addresses under that domain can be used in Zencity without requiring individual verification. This helps save time, improve deliverability, and strengthen trust with residents.
Why Validate a Domain?
Automatic approval: Once validated, all new sender addresses from the domain will be automatically verified.
Pending senders included: Any pending addresses under the domain will also be validated.
Per API key: Validation applies only to the API key (sub-account) where it was set up. If you use multiple sub-accounts, you must validate the domain for each one.
If you re-add a previously deleted sender address, it may not be automatically verified even if the domain is already validated. In this case, you’ll need to validate that address manually.
Prerequisites
To validate your domain, you need:
Access to your website hosting account or domain registrar account.
An active website is strongly recommended, as it improves email deliverability.
If you do not have an active website, contact Zencity Support for alternative validation methods.
How to Validate a Domain
Go to Newsletters → Account → Sender Domains & Addresses.
Click Add Domain.
Enter your domain name and an optional label, then click Continue.
Choose one of the two validation methods:
Method 1: Host a Temporary File on Your Website
Create an empty text file with the name provided by Zencity.
Upload the file to the root directory of your website using FTP or your hosting provider’s file manager.
Once uploaded, click Check now.
Method 2: Create a DNS Record
Log in to your domain host provider’s DNS management panel.
Add a new TXT record with the values provided by Zencity.
Save the record, then return to Zencity and click Check now.
After Validation
If successful, you will see a “Domain successfully validated” confirmation. From there, you can:
Set up SPF and DKIM for improved email authentication.
Return to your list of validated domains.
Troubleshooting
If validation fails:
File method: Ensure the file name matches exactly, the file is placed in the root directory, and it is completely empty (no text or spaces).
DNS method: Double-check the host name and TXT record values.
If issues persist, open a support ticket for assistance.
Once your domain is validated, you can send newsletters from any address within that domain confidently and securely.
