In-Depth Guide
Access the View Controls
In the Questionnaire Builder, you'll find view mode controls in the top right area of the interface. These toggle buttons allow you to switch between two distinct viewing and editing experiences for your questionnaire content.
Single Page View
Activation: Click the single page view icon (single rectangle) to enter focused editing mode.
Display behavior: Shows only the content from the currently selected page, hiding all other pages from the main editing area.
Benefits of single page view:
- Focused editing: Concentrate on perfecting one page at a time without distractions from other content
- Reduced cognitive load: Work with a manageable amount of content visible at once
- Detailed refinement: Ideal for fine-tuning question wording, answer options, and page-specific formatting
- Performance optimization: Faster loading and scrolling when working with large questionnaires
Navigation in single page view: Use the numbered page tabs in the left sidebar to jump between pages. Each click loads that specific page's content into the editing area.
Multi Page View
Activation: Click the multi page view icon (stacked rectangles) to enter comprehensive overview mode.
Display behavior: Shows all pages and their complete content in one continuous, scrollable interface.
Benefits of multi page view:
- Complete overview: See your entire questionnaire structure and flow at once
- Cross-page editing: Make changes across multiple pages without switching views
- Flow assessment: Evaluate the logical progression and transitions between sections
- Bulk operations: Perform actions that affect multiple pages more efficiently
Navigation in multi page view:
- Scroll naturally through all content from top to bottom
- Click "Next" button at the bottom of each page section to jump to the following page
- Use page sidebar to jump directly to specific pages within the scrollable view
Strategic Use of View Modes
Single page view is ideal for:
- Detailed question crafting and editing
- Working with complex conditional logic on specific pages
- Reviewing and perfecting individual page layouts
- Testing specific page functionality
- Collaborating on particular sections with team members
Multi page view is ideal for:
- Assessing overall questionnaire flow and length
- Identifying content gaps or redundancies across pages
- Reviewing question sequence and logical progression
- Making structural changes that affect multiple pages
- Final quality assurance before publishing
Navigation Methods
Page sidebar navigation: The numbered page tabs (1, 2, 3, etc.) on the left side work in both view modes:
- In single page view: Loads the selected page content
- In multi page view: Scrolls to that page section within the continuous view
Sequential navigation: The "Next" button appears at the bottom of page sections:
- In single page view: Advances to the next page and loads its content
- In multi page view: Scrolls down to the next page section
Direct scrolling: Available only in multi page view, allowing free movement through all content.
Content Sidebar Integration
The Content sidebar with question types (SELECTS, OPEN ENDED, NUMERIC, etc.) works consistently in both view modes:
- Drag and drop functionality remains available regardless of view mode
- Drop zones appear appropriately for the visible content area
Workflow Optimization
Recommended workflow pattern:
- Use multi page view for initial questionnaire planning and structure assessment
- Switch to single page view for detailed content creation and editing
- Return to multi page view for flow review and final quality checks
- Use single page view for targeted revisions and refinements
Methodology
View modes affect only the display and navigation experience within the Questionnaire Builder:
- Content preservation: All questions, formatting, and settings remain identical regardless of view mode
- Editing capabilities: Full editing functionality is available in both modes
- Publishing behavior: View mode selection has no impact on how respondents experience the questionnaire
The view mode selection is a personal preference and workflow optimization tool that doesn't affect questionnaire functionality or respondent experience.
Edge Cases and Considerations
Content sidebar interaction: In single page view, dragged content can only be added to the currently visible page. Switch pages first if you need to add content elsewhere.
Jump logic visualization: The Jump Logic section at the bottom shows page flow relationships more clearly in multi page view where you can see all connected pages simultaneously.
Screen size limitations: On smaller screens, single page view may provide a better editing experience by maximizing the available space for content.
