In-Depth Guide
Access the Questionnaire Builder
Begin by navigating to the Engage section and locating your engagement questionnaire on the Activities listing screen. Click "Edit" to open the Questionnaire Builder where you can manage pages and their content.
Select the Page to Copy
In the Questionnaire Builder, pages are displayed with numbered tabs (1, 2, 3, etc.) along the left side or top of the interface. Click on the page you want to duplicate to select it. When a page is selected, you'll see page-level controls and options.
Use the Copy Page Function
With your desired page selected, locate and click the "Copy Page" button in the page toolbar. This creates a complete duplicate of the selected page, including all questions, content blocks, formatting, and layout.
Understanding Page Copy Behavior
When you copy a page:
- Complete duplication: All elements on the page are copied exactly, including questions, content blocks, images, and text formatting
- Page positioning: The copied page appears immediately after the original page in the questionnaire sequence
- Independent editing: The copied page becomes a separate entity that can be modified without affecting the original
- Page numbering: Pages are automatically renumbered to reflect the new sequence
Common Use Cases for Page Copying
Consistent question formats: Create multiple pages with the same layout and question structure for different topics or time periods.
Demographic sections: Duplicate pages containing demographic questions to use across multiple questionnaires or sections.
Rating scale consistency: Copy pages with established rating scales to maintain consistency across different sections of your questionnaire.
Template creation: Use well-designed pages as templates for new sections by copying and then modifying the content.
Multi-wave surveys: Create identical page structures for longitudinal studies or repeated measurements.
Modifying Copied Pages
After copying a page, you can customize the duplicate:
- Edit page title: Update the page name to reflect its new purpose
- Modify questions: Change question text while maintaining the same structure and format
- Adjust content: Update text blocks, images, or other content elements
- Reorder elements: Use individual question tools to reorganize content within the copied page
- Add or remove elements: Drag new questions from the Content sidebar or delete unwanted elements
Page Management After Copying
Page reordering: Use the up and down arrows in the page toolbar to move your copied page to the desired position in the questionnaire sequence.
Page deletion: If you no longer need a copied page, use the delete function in the page toolbar to remove it entirely.
Page navigation: Use the numbered page tabs to move between your original and copied pages for comparison and editing.
Methodology
Page copying preserves all element-level settings and configurations:
- Question types and validation rules
- Required field settings
- Answer option configurations
- Text formatting and styling
- Image placements and sizing
- Content block layouts
The copy function creates exact duplicates at the page level, ensuring consistency in design and functionality while allowing for independent customization of content.
Edge Cases and Considerations
Conditional logic: If the original page contains conditional logic or branching that references other pages, the copied page will not automatically inherit these connections. You'll need to configure logic for the copied page separately.
Page dependencies: Consider how copying pages affects the overall questionnaire flow, especially if pages reference each other or depend on specific response patterns.
