Quick Steps
- Navigate to Ask > Surveys > Build select your survey
- Find your engagement questionnaire and click "Edit"
- In the Questionnaire Builder, select the question or content block to move
- Either drag and drop to the new position, or use the up/down arrows in the toolbar
In-Depth Guide
Access the Questionnaire Builder
Start by navigating to the Engage section and locating your engagement questionnaire on the Activities listing screen. Click "Edit" to open the Questionnaire Builder where you can modify the questionnaire structure.
Select the Element to Move
Click on any question or content block within your questionnaire. When selected, you'll see a toolbar appear above the element with several options including reordering controls.
Method 1: Drag and Drop Reordering
To move an element using drag and drop:
- Click and hold on the question or content block you want to move
- Drag the element to your desired position within the questionnaire
- Drop zones will appear as you drag, showing valid placement locations
- Release the element when positioned correctly
This method works for moving elements both short and long distances within your questionnaire.
Method 2: Arrow Button Reordering
For precise positioning, use the arrow controls in the toolbar:
- Select the question or content block you want to move
- In the toolbar that appears, click the up arrow (↑) to move the element higher in the questionnaire
- Click the down arrow (↓) to move the element lower in the questionnaire
- Continue clicking arrows until the element reaches your desired position
This method is particularly useful for fine-tuning positioning or when you need to move elements one position at a time.
Reordering Different Element Types
Both methods work consistently across all question types and content blocks:
- Questions: Single Select, Multiple Select, Text Input, Numeric Input, etc.
- Content blocks: Text blocks, images, media elements
- Contact fields: Email, phone number, zipcode
Edge Cases and Considerations
First and last positions: Elements at the very beginning or end of the questionnaire can only be moved using arrows in one direction (down for first element, up for last element).
Required vs. optional questions: Reordering does not change whether questions are required or optional. Consider the logical flow when placing required questions.
Content dependencies: If you have conditional logic or branching questions, verify that reordering doesn't break the intended flow or skip patterns.
Long questionnaires: For questionnaires with many elements, drag and drop may require scrolling. Consider using arrow controls for precise movements in lengthy forms.
