In-Depth Guide

Adding a New Quote

Access the Questionnaire Builder Navigate to the Engage section and go to the Activities listing screen. Find your engagement questionnaire and select "Edit" to open the Questionnaire Builder interface.

Add the Quote Element From the Content sidebar on the right, locate "Quote" under the "CONTENT" section. Drag the Quote element and drop it into your questionnaire at the desired position.

The questionnaire builder will display a drop zone where you can position your new quote. Release the Quote element when the drop zone appears in your preferred location.

Configure Quote Settings Once you drop the Quote element into your questionnaire, the configuration modal automatically opens. Configure the quote content and attribution details.

Enter Quote Text In the "Quote" field (marked as required), enter the full text of the quote you want to display. This could include:

  • Statements from community members about local issues
  • Municipal leader messages or policy explanations
  • Expert opinions on relevant topics
  • Testimonials about community programs or services
  • Key findings or insights from studies or reports

Ensure the quote text is accurate and appropriately attributed.

Add Speaker Information Configure the attribution details for your quote:

  • Name (required): Enter the full name of the person being quoted
  • Job Title (optional): Include the speaker's position, role, or relevant credentials that provide context for their perspective

Upload Speaker Image (Optional) In the "Image" section, you can add a photo of the person being quoted:

  • Upload Methods: Drag and drop an image file directly into the upload area or click to browse and select a file
  • File Requirements:
    • Supported formats: .jpg or .png only
    • Maximum file size: 10MB per image
    • Recommended: Professional headshot or appropriate photo that represents the speaker

Adding a speaker image helps personalize the quote and create a stronger connection with questionnaire respondents.

Save Your Configuration After entering the quote text, speaker information, and optional image, click "Save" to apply your changes. The modal will close and you'll see an in-builder preview of your quote within the questionnaire.

Editing Existing Quotes

Locate and Select the Quote In the Questionnaire Builder, find the quote you want to modify. Click on the edit icon on the quote block to open the configuration modal and access all editing options.

Modify Quote Content Update the quote text, speaker name, job title, or speaker image as needed. Click "Save" to apply your changes and close the configuration modal. Once saved, you'll see an in-builder preview of your updated quote.

Change Speaker Information Update the speaker's name or job title to reflect current information or correct any errors. Ensure attribution remains accurate and appropriate.

Replace Speaker Images Upload a new image to replace the existing speaker photo, or remove the image entirely if no longer needed or appropriate.

Reorder Quotes Reposition quotes within your questionnaire flow using two methods:

  • Drag-and-drop: Click and hold the quote block, then drag it to a new position. The questionnaire will show drop zones indicating valid placement locations.
  • Toolbar: Use the reordering options available in the quote's toolbar for precise positioning.

Remove Quotes To delete a quote, use the delete option in the quote's toolbar. The quote will be removed immediately without a confirmation prompt.

Quote Design Best Practices

Choose Meaningful Quotes Select quotes that directly support your questionnaire's purpose and provide valuable perspective or context. Avoid quotes that are generic, outdated, or don't add meaningful value to the content.

Ensure Accurate Attribution Always verify that quote text is accurate and properly attributed. Obtain permission to use quotes when necessary, especially from private individuals or copyrighted sources.

Use Current Information Ensure speaker names, job titles, and photos are current and accurate. Outdated attribution can reduce credibility and confuse respondents.

Consider Speaker Credibility Choose speakers whose expertise, role, or perspective is relevant to your questionnaire topic and will resonate with your target audience.

Keep Quotes Concise Select quotes that are impactful but not overly long. Shorter quotes are more likely to be read and understood by questionnaire respondents.

Strategic Placement Position quotes where they can provide context, support key points, or transition between questionnaire sections effectively.

Methodology

Quote Display Processing Quote elements are formatted with distinctive styling that visually separates quoted text from other questionnaire content, typically using quotation marks, special typography, or background formatting.

Attribution Integration Speaker names and job titles are displayed alongside quotes in a consistent format that clearly identifies the source of the quoted statement.

Image Integration When speaker images are included, they are displayed alongside the quote and attribution information, creating a cohesive visual presentation that personalizes the quoted content.

Visual Formatting Quote elements use consistent styling that makes them stand out from regular text content while maintaining readability and professional appearance.

Language Support Quote content elements support multi-language engagement questionnaires when configured. Quote text, speaker names, and job titles are translated while speaker images remain consistent across language versions.

Edge Cases, Exceptions & Known Issues

Drag and Drop Functionality

  • Dropping quotes outside the builder area will not add them to your questionnaire

Image Upload Limitations

  • Only .jpg and .png formats are supported for speaker images
  • Files exceeding 10MB will not upload and will display an error message
  • Corrupted or invalid image files may fail to upload or display properly

Attribution Requirements

  • Speaker names are required fields and cannot be left blank

Quote Text Limitations

  • Very long quotes may overwhelm other questionnaire content
  • Quote text should be verified for accuracy before inclusion
  • Consider copyright or permission requirements for published quotes

Speaker Image Considerations

  • Images should be appropriate professional representations of the speaker
  • Very small or low-resolution images may not display well
  • Consider privacy implications when using photos of individuals

Content Accuracy and Legal

  • Ensure quotes are accurately transcribed and properly attributed
  • Consider obtaining permission for quotes from private individuals
  • Be aware of potential copyright issues with published quotes or professional photos

Professional Representation

  • Speaker job titles should accurately reflect current positions
