Commonplace Migration - Understanding the Zencity structure

This article describes the structure of Zencity and where your projects, pages, surveys and maps have been migrated to.

Understanding the Zencity structure

In Zencity all of your engagement activities are centralised within the main platform - unlike in Commonplace where each project had its own separate URL. This makes it easier to see all your engagement activities at a glance and provides quicker access to editing and reporting functions.

For example, if you access the Surveys screen you'll see every survey across all of your projects - you can then use the Project filter to see only the surveys associated with a specific project.

Where can I find my migrated projects?

Your Commonplace projects have been migrated to the Communicate module. You can find them in ‘Content Pages’, under the ‘Communicate’ section of the sidebar menu.

There are four categories of Content Page, grouped into tabs at the top of the page.

Projects

Projects are the most basic and versatile type of content page - they can act as the homepage for a survey, or as a standalone informational page.

Updates

The Updates tab encompasses news updates, as well as ‘information only’ proposal tiles that did not include any survey questions.

Hubs

Hubs are designed as a place to aggregate projects relating to a particular theme or department - for example, all projects relating to transport or regeneration.

Home

Home pages are the ‘top’ level of the hierarchy, and are designed to act as a central homepage for your entire organisation.

Where can I find my migrated surveys?

Your surveys have been migrated to the Ask module. You can find them in ‘Surveys’, under the ‘Ask’ section of the sidebar menu.

In this screen you'll see every survey across all of your projects - you can then use the Project filter to see only the surveys associated with a specific project.

Alternatively, you can open a specific project from the ‘Content Pages’ menu, and then click the ‘Surveys’ link to see all surveys associated with the project.

Where is the demographics page?

Zencity doesn’t use a separate page for demographics questions - so the project’s demographics questions have been merged in at the end of each migrated survey.

Where can I find my migrated community heatmaps?

Maps sit in the ‘Collaborative Activities’ page, under the ‘Ask’ section of the sidebar menu. As with surveys, you can filter by project to see only the maps associated with a specific project.

Where can I find my survey responses?

To find your survey responses, navigate to the ‘Surveys’ screen - click the name of the survey to open the results screen (please note that the survey must have collected at least one response for the results screen to be available).

The first page shows a participation summary - you can then use the back and forward arrows to navigate through detailed analysis of each question, and click ‘Share Results’ to build a report or export the raw data as a CSV.

Unlike Commonplace, Zencity doesn’t use a separate page for demographics questions - so the relevant demographics questions from each Commonplace project have been merged in at the end of each migrated survey.
